Teams were judged throughout the two day
competition for a combination total of points added together from each
days routine. Each day ten judges would score a team a possible
100 points on dance and motions, jumps, stunts, pyramids and basket
tosses, running and tumbling, standing - tumbling; and overall
effectiveness came from creatively and choreography - synchronization
and timing; transition and formations; showmanship and overall.
The Florala Wildcats finished in third
place behind 2A Sand Rock High School (AL) and 5A Hayden High School
(TN). As one Florala Coach stated of Sand Rock's first place
finish, "[Sand Rock is] one of the best 2A squads I've ever
seen". For Florala's first ever
National
Competition the Coaches were extremely pleased with their performance
- "We were concerned with several injuries that our cheerleaders
were performing through".
The Opp Bobcats competed at the medium
varsity level 4 classification and also placed third in the two day
event competing against the likes of Wilson High School -
Bryan-Station High School and others.
The event was not all work - staying at
the premiere Opryland Hotel in the Heart of Country Music - the Opp
and Florala squads attending a concert performance by country star -
Taylor Swift and several were welcomed to an autograph and photo
session.
