North-South Softball All-Stars Named
Teams and coaches selected for the North-South softball competition
during the 11th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week July 9-13 in
Huntsville have been announced by Steve Bailey, director of the
Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.
Both rosters are composed of upcoming seniors. The all-stars will
play a doubleheader on Wednesday, July 11, at the Metro Kiwanis
Sportsplex at 6 p.m.
Sports Week features in-state all-star games in volleyball, girls
and boys basketball, baseball, football and boys and girls soccer.
Also included are clinics and sessions for coaches, athletic
directors, cheerleader coaches and officials. An All-Sports Product
Expo and other related activities are scheduled throughout the week.
Coaching the SOUTH team are Ashlie Harrison of Maplesville and
Lawrence Yelding of Daphne. Susan Barnes of Elba is administrative
coach.
The members of the South team include:
Infielders: Lexie Phillips of Ariton, Hagen Vickers of Horseshoe
Bend, Anna Henderson of Andalusia, Samantha Shelley of Baker, Jenny
Laird of Baker, Frankie Mello of Oak Mountain, Haley Munroe of
Wetumpka and Donica Knight of Trinity.
Outfielders: Alison of Padgett of Dadeville, Grace Boutwell of
Alabama Christian and Brooke Taylor of Prattville.
Pitchers: Robyn Harmon of St. James, Jordan McAllister of Dothan,
Sarah Sigrest of Daphne, Trish Zettler of Pelham and Haley Hopkins
of Gulf Shores.
Catchers: Sara Hilton of Enterprise and Sara Allen of LAMP.
Coaches for the NORTH team are Brad Myrick of Gardendale and Doyle
Hensley of Speake. Kent Chambers of Bob Jones is administrative
coach.
North team members are:
Infielders: Shea Driggers of Leeds, Lindsey Hawkins of Decatur,
Hayden Gann of Hoover and Maegan Hornsby of Hoover.
Outfielders: Kristy Pevahouse of Hartselle, Kim Bryant of Grissom,
Brittney Lantrip of Vestavia Hills and Samantha Johnson of Florence.
Pitchers: Jessica Graver of J.B. Pennington, Casey Jean Steadman of
Ardmore, Elizabeth Allred of Corner, Michelle Cheatwood of Mortimer
Jordan and Amber Torres of Sparkman.
Catcher: Kathryn Young of Central-Florence, Brittany Richardson of
Muscle Shoals, LaRae Womack of Etowah, Allison Suoboda of
Clay-Chalkville and Jaime Voelkel of Bob Jones.
The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association
operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic
Association. Membership includes coaches of all AHSAA sports as well
as administrators of member schools.
