Overtime losses knocked three of last week’s No. 1 boys teams off their top-ranked perch in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association high school basketball poll.

Class 4A Bullock County lost at Jeff Davis in overtime on Friday while Class 3A Crossville lost to Albertville in overtime on Tuesday and AISA Bessemer Academy lost at Tuscaloosa Academy in overtime on Tuesday.

Guntersville took over the Class 4A top spot while Madison Academy is the new Class 3A top-ranked team and AISA Glenwood regained the No. 1 ranking it held until Bessemer Academy ’s earlier upset of the Gators.

Class 6A LeFlore, Class 5A Williamson, Class 2A R.C. Hatch and Class 1A St. Jude all remained at the No. 1 spot.

In the girls poll, all seven of last week’s top-ranked teams finished the week undefeated. Class 6A Bob Jones, Class 5A Eufaula, Class 4A Midfield, Class 3A Lexington, Class 2A Cold Springs, Class 1A McIntosh and AISA Glenwood all stayed atop the poll.

Class 1A top-ranked McIntosh (21-0) ran its unbeaten streak to 58 games while Class 4A No. 1 Midfield (24-0) has a 40-game winning streak. Class 1A second-ranked Spring Garden is also undefeated at 28-0.

Class 5A Russellville (24-0) is the only undefeated boys team in the poll.
