Bulldogs hope to "Seymore" Wins!
"Third time's a charm" is what hopeful Andalusia fans are could be
saying today as the Bulldogs announce former assistance Brian
Seymore as their third coach in three years. The news was
broken first on the W40BE-TV / Program23 Show "Left Field
Grill Sports Talk" after a special called meeting by
the Andalusia Board of Education made the announcement.
Andalusia players will remember the coach only one year removed as a
Bulldog Assistant under former head coach Tom Causey. Seymore
was the defensive coordinator when he left in 2006 with Causey to
coach at 5A Demopolis.
Seymore will replace Heath Harmon who moves back to North Alabama
accepting the White Plains head job. Andalusia High principal Daniel
Shakespeare summed up the hiring of Seymore with "He is the right
fit at the right time for the right job."
Twenty-nine applicants were narrowed to nine individuals who went
through the two day interview process. Shakespeare,
superintendent Beverly McAnulty, and AHS Athletic Director Richard
Robertson narrowed the nine to one - naming Seymore last night with
a 4-0 vote from the Board.
Seymore joined the Andalusia staff in 2006 after previously serving
as head coach at Pike Liberal Arts Academy and then followed Causey
to Demopolis in 2007.
In addition to his duties as football coach, Seymore will teach
physical education at Andalusia.
Shakespeare said Seymore will meet with the football players at 9
a.m. Tuesday and McAnulty added that in the near future there will
be a public "meet and greet" session with the new coach.
