The
Florala Wildcats Junior Varsity opened their season against an 'ole
familiar foe the Red Level Tigers.
The Wildcats traveled on Monday Evening to
face the 2A County school with hopes of following in the steps of the
youngest Pee Wee Wildcats and blanking the Tigers.
Florala, though quickly found
themselves in a hole and couldn't escape the speed and talent of the Red
Level junior varsity.
If you arrived in the final three minutes of
the game you saw all the action you wanted to see in High School Football
-- Kick-off returns, Onside Kicks, tackles, touchdown passes.
Red Level jumped on top and lead throughout
the game until the final three minutes when Florala closed the gap 14-6.
The Wildcats attempted an on-side kick that bounced the wrong way. Instead
of Florala recovering for a chance to tie - Red Level took the ball the
distance for a touchdown to lead 22-6.
The ball changed hands several
times until Freshman Quarterback Zach Fleming found an open target and hit
a 58 yard touchdown strike to bring the Cats back with 31 seconds
remaining. The point after attempt failed and Red Level controlled the
game 22-12. Florala lined up for another onside attempt and lightening
struck again as Red Level took the ball all the way in for a Touchdown to
close out the night with a victory over Florala 28-12.
