Tigers win in
Abbeville

The Straughn Tigers
are already ahead of the game - "we would like to get out to a
better start than last season" said head Coach Trent Taylor
before the Red Level game. - Well he couldn't have said it
any better. "We're still a young team" also said Taylor,
but they are maturing fast.
The Tigers have come
from behind in both their contest to win in the final moments of
play - both on offense and defense. Trailing 12-0 against
Red Level the Tigers poured on to win the hotly contested
rivalry game 14-12.
Abbeville was
expected to content for a top playoff spot in the region, and
still may although dropping to the Tigers Friday night.
Straughn held an 18-2 half-time lead only allowing a safety in
the first half. The defense held Abbeville on 4th and goal
and the offense was stopped in their end zone on the next play -
at that point it was 6-2, but Straughn added two more scores
before half.
The Yellow Jackets
rejuvenated themselves at half time and returned the kickoff for
a touchdown and two point conversion - trailing 18-10.
Less than 10 seconds had elapsed on the play and with a few more
minutes had tied the score.
Abbeville would
eventually take command of the game and lead 26-18, before
Straughn begin their comeback - and it took more than one try -
it took three comebacks.
26-24; 32-24; 32-32;
and the final 40-32.
Straughn begins
preparation this week for the Geneva Panthers who won the region
last season, but dropped to Pike County Friday Night.
