OVERVIEW – Last season the Bulldogs
had high expectations and a new coach - 2008 could be a mirrored
image to the '07 team (Bulldogs
hope to "Seymore" wins) - but will face a much difficult schedule as
Andalusia faces a region mix up that includes many of the teams from
their 2005 season.

This year's schedule will start and end with County teams - Straughn
and Opp, respectfully. Neither game can be counted on as
victories as both the Tigers and Bobcats could field their best
teams in three years.
Andalusia has shown tremendous consistency on both offense and
defense the past two years scoring 408 points and allowing a little
more than 200 - although the 2007 team was more productive in both
categories. Topping a 10 or 11 win season could prove a big
challenge for Seymore's, especially with Thomasville, UMS-Wright and
BC Rain moving into the region.
2008 brings with it high expectation across the State among
sportswriters and fans. The Bulldogs will likely be an early favorite
and should start the year in most top 10 polls.
Andalusia will have a different coach on the sideline for the third
straight year - and fans will be looking for the same results - '06
Causey, '07 Harmon, and now '08 Seymore. (Does
Seymore mean more wins?)
Seymore will have a seasoned Quarterback, the counties best kicker
and arguable the most recruited high school linebacker in Alabama
this season.
All that said, with their schedule Andalusia could easily finish the season 5-5

What to watch on
offense – For a team to have three different coaches on the
sidelines the past three years, fans would likely not have known by
watching the offensive and defensive structures. This year's
team should continue to implement
06' head coach Causey’s West Virginia style spread that leans heavy on the run,
Harmon was slow to make changes and Seymore will likely favor
Causey's scheme since he followed him to Demopolis last season
before returning back to Andalusia to take the helm. The most difficult
positions to replace will once again be on the front line with Baby
D and Maddox departed.
Brent Shriver made fans
quickly forget his lack of experience as he guided the team to 11
wins while running the offense masterfully.
The Bulldogs will need
to protect the QB as the team searches for a replacement to Michael
Berry.
Size will be a concern for the
Bulldogs - so the team will rely on speed more than over powering
teams.
How and will Nico Johnson be
used on offense?
What to watch on defense – Two words Nico Johnson.
However the Bulldogs will miss even more two other words... Brannon
Bryan. Offensive coordinators will run away from Johnson all
night and Andalusia will have to have someone making big plays like
Bryan did last season.
The team will be better if – the team accepts and embraces the
individual success and talent of Nico Johnson and maintains team
unity. Implementing and execution of Coach Seymore’s offensive /
defensive schemes and the impact of a new offensive line.
The schedule – The Bulldogs could face one of the toughest
schedules of any team this season - with no "easy" wins on their
schedule. The Bulldogs could easily finish 5-5, but more
likely 7-3 with their schedule. .
