Andalusia Tennis

Coach Dillard Perry's Tennis Team finished seventh in state in the Class 4A AHSAA State Tournament.  "I’m really proud of the hard work each of these young men have put forth this year. We’re really going to miss our three seniors next year ( Jared Neal, Ronak Patel & Ashford Boyington) but with a roster of 6 sophomores & 4 freshmen I feel really good about the direction of our program."

Andalusia¹s Jared Neal earned a bye for his # 1 finish at sectionals and was defeated in the second round by Jake Lyons 6-0, 6-1.

In the first round of play Jemison’s Matthew Samples defeated Andalusia¹s Ronak Patel 2-6, 7-5, 7-5

Seed # 4
Andalusia¹s Stephen Darby earned a bye in the first round for his # 1 finish at sectionals and defeated Haleyville’s Jonathan Lindley 6-2, 6-3 in the second round to move on to the semi-finals. In the semi’s Stephen was defeated by Guntersville’s Ben Bradley 6-1,6-1.

In the first round Andalusia¹s Ashford Boyington defeated Jacksonville’s Alan Tippets . In the second round Andalusia¹s Ashford Boyington was defeated by Guntersville’s Chris Collins.

In the first round Guntersville’s Dalton Burks defeated Andalusia¹s Jake Ricardy in a heartbreaker that saw to tiebreakers 4-6, 7-6, 6-7.

In the first round of play Guntersville’s Josh Cameron and Ben Bradley defeated Andalusia¹s Steven Darby & Ronak Patel 6-0, 6-1.

Seed # 3
In the first round of play Andalusia¹s Jake Ricardy & Ashford Boyington defeated Haleyville’s Matt Fuller and Dustin Young in a three set nail biter. In the second round Andalusia¹s Jake Ricardy & Ashford Boyington were defeated by Cherokee County in another three set battle royal.
 

Trinity won the Girls 4A State Tennis title with 64 points this past week with Andalusia finishing fifth (22 points) followed by Opp tied at sixth with 21 points.  The Andalusia Boys finished in seventh place in the 4A State finals - also won by Trinity.  PICTURES

Miller & Andalusia will advance to next weeks 4A State Championship tournament at Lagoon Park.

Today's the day...

A Tri-match against T.R.Miller & Jackson will begin today at 2:00 at LBW.

The Bulldog Boys currently sit at 5-6 and defeated Miller last week in their section rivalry; 7-2.  Michael Tyler, Ronak Patel, Ashford Boyington & Steven Darby all had wins in singles. In doubles Tyler/Jared Neal , Patel/Darby & Boyington/ Jake Ricardy all recorded wins.

Last Thursday against Houston Academy, Patel/Darby & Boyington/Ricardy all recorded doubles wins.  But only Ronak Patel could manage a singles win during their play. The Boys dropped the match 3-6.

The Sectional Tournament will be hosted by Andalusia on April 24th (Girls) and April 26th for the Boys.
