(Andalusia's Barlow captures individual State Title)

The Andalusia Boys Tennis team traveled to State, but it was Trinity that captured the team crown as the Bulldogs finished in tenth place. 

The Opp Lady Bobcats finished sixth and the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs finished eighth - mostly on the success of number one seed Sarah Catherine Barlow.  Barlow won the coveted Girls No. 1 Bracket by defeating St. James' Kat Jackson 6-1, 6-7 (7-3), 6-2.  Jackson had defeated Trinity's Towns Carlson last year's Title holder before falling to Barlow.  Opp's Molly Gooden fell to Towns Carlson of Trinity in round two.  Barlow defeated Jacksonville's Emila Gray (6-4, 6-3) and Guntersville's May Haden Edwards (4-6, 6-2, 6-1) before getting into the finals.  

Opp's Malory Mims made the finals of bracket No. 5 with wins over St. James' Page Kenmore (6-3, 6-0); Andalusia's Aubrey Boyington (6-3, 6-3) before falling to Trinity's Emily Cox 6-3, 6-0).  Boyington defeated Jacksonville's Jordan Yancey to made the Semi-final round (6-1, 1-6, 6-3)

No 4 - Jay McCord lost to Trevor Sanders (3-6, 6-3, 6-1)
No. 5 - Chris Smith lost to Brooks' Saul Evans in second rd (4-6, 7-6, 6-2)
No. 6 - Mayour Patel lost to Oneonta's Zac Gargus in second rd (6-4, 7-5).

Doubles
No 1. - Ricardy / Darby lost to Trinity's Hibbert / Mitchell (6-1, 6-1)
No 2. - Clark / McCord lost to Oneonta's Sanders / pages (7-6; 6-4)
No 3. - Fosher / Brooks lost to Brooks' Casteel / Holmes (6-4, 6-7, 6-4)

Andalusia split their match with Houston Academy on a cold, dismal day.   The weather may have affected both teams, but the Bulldogs were happy to get out of Dothan with the split with Houston Academy.

Andalusia Bulldogs swept WS Neal Eagles. The junior varsity boys defeated W.S. Neal 9-0, while the Junior Varsity Lady Bulldogs took care of Neal, going 8-1

Andalusia Junior Varsity opened the season with a match at Greenville.  The Bulldogs carried a 4-2 lead against the Tigers before the matches were called due to rain.

Andalusia Tennis

2007-2008

Twenty-Five players will hit the "courts" for the Bulldogs during the 2008 Spring Tennis season.  Sarah Barlow is the lone senior on either squad and youth will dominate Andalusia who will compete with ten Juniors.  Andalusia's boys and girls both made the state finals last season and should continue building upon the success.

2006-2007 Review

Andalusia's girls finished fifth (22 points) and the boys finished seventh in the Class 4A AHSAA State Tournament.  Their are several players returning and a lot of new talent to grow the Bulldogs for the future.
