2007-2008 Season Outlook
BASEBALL PREVIEW
The Opp Bobcats have been practicing day and night for the upcoming
baseball season. With spring training football happening over the
past two weeks the Bobcat baseball team has had divided practices
with the seniors who are done with football and the non football
players getting workouts in the afternoon and the whole team
(football players included) getting in practice in the evening.
John Donaldson returns as the Bobcat head coach
this season along with assistants Ronnie Moseley, and Juan Johnson
both will also be coaching the junior varsity team.
The Bobcats will participate in 2 tournaments this
year as the Junior Varsity will participate in the Basebrawl
Tournament on March 14th and 15th in Andalusia.
The Varsity team begins the season in a six team
tournament in Enterprise which will also include the host team
Enterprise Wildcats, the Andalusia Bulldogs, the Charles Henderson
Trojans of Troy, the Carroll Eagles of Ozark and, the GW Long Rebels
of Skipperville.
Area play will remain the same for Opp in 2008 as
it was in 2007 as the area will consist of only 3 teams again this
year Opp, Daleville, and Ashford. Opp will look to claim an area
championship this season something that eluded them in 2007.
With an area championship the Bobcats would be
able to host a first round home playoff game instead of having to
travel as they did last year falling 10-9 to the Wildcats of Trinity
Presbyterian in the first round.
The Bobcats began the 2008 season on Tuesday
February 26 against Charles Henderson of Troy in the Enterprise
tournament. Opp also plays Enterprise on Friday the 29th at 7:30 pm
and a double header on Saturday March 1st against Carroll-Ozark at 3
pm and GW Long at 5 pm.
