Opp vs. Andalusia
Last Tuesday the Opp boys (2-7) and girls (10-1) Tennis began the last
week of regular season against Andalusia at Opp. The girls would
dominate Andalusia sweeping all three sets of doubles matches and
winning five out of the six singles matches. Opp defeated Andalusia for
the second time this year by a score of 8 matches to 1. The boys would
fail to win a set of matches as they dropped all seven to Andalusia.

Opp vs. Trinity
Last Thursday the Opp girls (9-1) tennis team
traveled to Montgomery to play 2007 4A state champion Trinity
Presbyterian. Although Trinity would win nine of the eleven matches
played the two Opp wins came at the top.
Opp's #1 and #2 seeds Molly Gooden and Molly Johnson both made
statements by knocking off the top two 4A girls players in the state.

Monday, the Opp boys (2-7) and girls (9-0) Tennis teams were back on the
courts taking on Enterprise in Opp.
The girls would see a much tougher
Enterprise team in the rematch, but would still manage to come away with the win
as they won 7 of the 12 matches.
Nekio Lane picked up another win for the boys.

Bobcats / Bulldogs Tangle
in Tennis
Opp and Andalusia are rivals in every
sport they compete in. The Bulldogs have gained the advantage over
the past several years, but the Bobcats are gaining stability and
equaling the "playing field".
Last Thursday the Opp boys (2-6)
and girls (8-0) Tennis teams traveled to Andalusia to play in one of
the most important tennis match-ups of the year.
The girls would
dominate the doubles winning three out of four matches and would split in the
singles matches giving Opp the win 8 matches to 4. The boys fell as

Boys finish Third
Saturday,
both the girls and boys Tennis teams participated in a tournament held
in Andalusia at the LBWCC courts where the girls played and Andalusia
High School where the boys played. All of the teams in the area Opp,
Andalusia, TR Miller, and Jackson, were participants with the exception
of WS Neal. The Opp girls won their side taking six of the eight
brackets while the boys finished tied for third place. The results were
as follows:

After a week of practice the Opp boys
(1-2) and girls (3-0) Tennis team were back on the court last Friday
against Carroll High of Ozark. The girls swept Ozark winning all nine of
their matches with ease and the boys won two of their six matches with
Nekio Lane picking up both wins for the boys side as he remains unbeaten
on the year.

Lady Bobcats - tops on courts
The Opp boys (1-1) and girls (2-0)
Tennis teams were back on the courts Tuesday for their home opener
against the visiting Greenville Tiger tennis team. Both teams braved the
cold weather as the girls team won their set of matches winning 8 of the
10 against Greenville while the boys fell winning only 2 of their 7
matches.

Opp tops Panthers in opener
The Opp Boys (1-0) and Girls (1-0)
Tennis teams took to the court last Tuesday in Georgiana against a
rookie Panther tennis team beginning their first season. Their debut
however would be spoiled by Opp as the boys and girls both swept all
their matches against Georgiana. Every win was convincing as the Bobcats
picked up where they left off in 2007. The individual results are as

The 2008 Opp Tennis team has begun practice
getting ready for the upcoming season. The team is coming off of one
of the best season's in school history in 2007 with a perfect 11-0
record during the regular season, a runner up finish in the
sectionals, and a 6th place finish in the state tournament in
Montgomery.
This season will see a few new opponents for Opp as
they will play Georgiana High School to begin the season, and late in
the season Opp will travel to Montgomery to play the 2007 4A state
champions Trinity Presbyterian.
Area matchups for this year are Andalusia, TR Miller
of Brewton and WS Neal of East Brewton. The 2008 varsity girl's team is
led by returning #1 seed senior Molly Gooden who is playing in her 4th
year of tennis and her 2nd year as the #1 seed. Moving up from the #4
seed in 2007 to the #2 seed in 2008 is senior Molly Johnson who is also
playing in her 4th year of tennis.
The #3 seed is senior Meredith Brogden who is also
playing in her 4th year of tennis. Juniors Ashley Wiliams, Mallory Mims,
and Leah Laird round out the girl's varsity side as the 4th, 5th and 6th
seeds. The 2008 girl's doubles will consist of #1 seeds Molly Gooden and
Molly Johnson, #2 seeds are Meredith Brogden and Ashley Williams, and
the #3 seeds are Mallory Mims and Jessica Register.
The varsity boys team will consist of 5 players for
the 2008 season as senior Nekio Lane returns for his 4th year of tennis
and is the #1 seed on the boy's side. The #2 seed is senior Jonathon
Oakley who is playing in his 3rd year of tennis. Seeds 3, 4, and 5 will
consist of 8th grader David Brogden at #3, and sophmores Tyler Wyatt,
and Michael Ball as the #4 and #5 seeds. The junior varsity girls team
will be lead by freshman Korrie Lynn James who like most of the jv team
is playing in her 1st year of tennis. The #2 seed is freshman Rissa
Wamsley who is also playing in her 1st year, and the 3, 4, and 5 seeds
consist of Anna Hall at #3, Alaina Shepard at #4 and Shanecqua Peacock
at #5. Opp began play on Tuesday Feb 19th with Georgiana.
