Eagles enjoy Homecoming
The McKenzie Tigers were still roaring
after their big upset win over Florala on Tuesday, but were
unable to continue the end results as the Pleasant Home Eagles
ended a "sweet" night of basketball defeating the area rival
37-25.
With the Victory the Eagles now own the area lead at 3-1 after
Florala defeated Brantley on Friday Night. Pleasant Home
started slow in the first taking a three point (8-5) lead over
former coach Miles Brown's McKenzie team.
The Eagles extended the lead by two in the second and took an
18-13 half time break.
The second half was a little disappointing for Eagles Coach
Jerry Davis who felt his team played sloppy and "weren't up to
par". The game was a slow paced, low scoring
event, but it was the free throw line that kept the Eagles in
the lead after hitting 8-9 in the fourth.
"Next week's going to be a rough week," he said. "We have to go
to Florala and to Brantley. We got control of our destiny and
we're in a hunt for a change. These kids are excited and feel
good about themselves."
Josh Dozier and Tyler Dozier lead Pleasant Home with 9 points
apiece.
Lady Eagles get win over McKenzie
Wildcats B-Team falls to Eagles
Quarvae Troublefield scored 8 of his 10
points in the fourth quarter, but it was to little to late as
the Pleasant Home B-team outscored the Wildcats in the third
quarter 18-5 to stop the B-Cats two game winning streak.
Colter Poole hit three from beyond the arc, but it was Cory Sims
who lead the Eagles with 13. The B-Team Eagles improved to
8-2 on the season and look primed for the first B-team
tournament to be held in Red Level on Saturday, Jan 19.
Jorian Avan had two threes for the Wildcats and ended with 7 points.
The Eagles took a 19-13 half time lead, but exploded in the
third to win 41-29.
Eagles sweep Tigers
Pleasant Home got off to a great area start with Varsity Boys
and Girls victories over the McKenzie Tigers. The JV
started the night with a 38-37 victory followed by the Lady
Eagles extending their record to 9-2 with a 63-31 victory over
the Tigers. The Varsity won 48-39 in the close confines of
the McKenzie gym.
Alabama-Florida Shoot-out Big Success
Both Alabama and Florida can claim success after a weekend of
Basketball in Pleasant Home as the Eagles hosted the first ever
Shoot-out. The Baker Lady Gators and the Florala Wildcats
both went through undefeated but it was Rocky Bayou hitting rock
bottom during the two day event. Baker defeated the Lady
Wildcats in day one followed by a victory over the Lady Eagles
(8-2) on Sat.
The Florala Wildcats (10-4) improved their season standing with
solid victories over the Baker Gators and Rocky Bayou. The
Pleasant Home Varsity Boys won their opening game over the
Knights, but lost in overtime to Baker 45-41.

Eagles split with Straughn
(Tigers B-team undefeated)
B-Team
The Straughn Tigers B-Team
remained undefeated winning their second in a row defeating the
Eagles 43-34. Straughn defeated Florala Tuesday Night to
win their first game with Brandon McCarty leading the Tigers in
the victory with 15 points. Corey Sims had 16 for the
Eagles.
Lady Eagles
The Lady Eagles aren't ready to hand Brantley the
area title just yet as Coach Garner's team came out and made a
statement for the 1A Eagles defeating 3A Straughn Thursday
evening.
The Eagles did not trail at the end of each quarter the entire
night as the teams concentration and focus showed the entire
game. Coach Kinsaul's Lady Tigers trailed big in Florala
on Tuesday, but couldn't get to the boards and fall to 2-3 on
the season as the team fell behind early and was shut out
completely in the fourth quarter.
Pleasant Home came out to a 12-8 first quarter lead and extended
it one point by the end of the second going into half 23-18.
It was a team effort for the Eagles although Erin Byrd lead
Pleasant Home with 13 points in the win.
The Lady Eagles kept Straughn from having one player in double figures on
the evening building a 33-27 lead going into the final period
when the Tigers were shutout falling 48-27.
Varsity Boys
The Straughn Tigers Varsity Boys evened their season record
Thursday Night and gave Coach Todd Reynolds his first win as the
Tigers traveled to Pleasant Home for the 74-59 victory.
Pleasant Home opened with a 16-13 first quarter lead, but fell
behind as Trevor Driver rebounded from a 3 point performance on
Tuesday to score 20 points in leading the Tigers win. The
Tigers outscored the Eagles in the second quarter 20-10 and took
the halftime lead 33-26 and rolled on in the second half in the
non-area contest.
Pleasant Home's Josh Dozier and Emory Rabren scored 37 of the
Eagles 59 points in the loss. Dozier ended the night as
the games leading scored with 21, Rabren finished with 16.
