Story from Opp

Opp (5-5) traveled over to Red Level last Saturday to take on the Tigers in a county game. The Bobcats came out and took advantage of two Red Level walks and an error to jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Tigers even came to bat.

The Tigers answered in the bottom of the first with the lead off batter tripling and scoring on a single later in the inning to cut the lead to 3-1.

Neither team would threaten in the second and the Bobcats went quietly in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third Red Level loaded the bases with one out but would be turned away by Opp as starting pitcher Spencer Youmans struck out the next batter and got the final out on a pop up to right field to end the Tiger threat.

Neither team would threaten in the fourth or fifth inning as neither team could get a runner past second base. Opp came to bat in the top of the sixth looking to blow the game open. Cody Hall would start the inning with the first of three straight base hits. A Tiger error would allow the first four Bobcat batters to reach base. Gavin Free doubled to the fence to bring in two of the four runs to put Opp up 7-1 heading into the seventh inning.

The Bobcats batted around in the sixth inning as Cody Hall once again led off the seventh with a base hit. He would be driven in by Josh Dunn later in the inning to put Opp up 8-1 with Red Level coming to bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh Red Level would get a single and a double to drive in one run but it would not be enough as Spencer Youmans struck out the last batter to end the game giving Opp the win 8-2.

The Bobcats were led by Cody Hall who went 2 for 4 at the plate reaching on an error, 2 singles, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. On the mound Spencer Youmans went the distance giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with just 1 walk, 1 hit batter, and 5 strikeouts.
