FHS BAND NEWS
(Jan 26, 2010)
The Band this year has been working hard to represent Florala
High School in a very wonderful way. The selections from the
half-time show include “El Gato”; “Hot and Cold” from the famous
hit singer Katy Perry; a drum feature called “Firefly” ;
“Welcome to the Black Parade” and closing with our school fight
song “Wildcat Victory”.
The Band, Cheerleaders, and the Football Team gathered at the
end of each Friday night game at the Band section to sing the
Alma Mater. This was a very appropriate way to conclude each
game. It is a testament to good school pride and spirit!
The band participated in The A-Town Band Classic, in Andalusia
on October 3rd, and The Little Big Horn Marching Contest in Opp,
Alabama on October 17th. The Band Scored Superior and Excellent
Ratings while the Drum Line Scored “Best in Class” at Andalusia
and the Majorettes Scored “Best in Class” at both the Andalusia
Contest and the Opp Contest as well. We are very proud of our
Band‘s accomplishments in these performances and their
performances on Friday nights as well!
In December, the Concert Band and the Elementary Band held its
annual Christmas Concert at the High School Gym at 2:00pm on
December 13th. They performed traditional Christmas Carols as
well as some fun Christmas favorites. We are certainly proud of
all the students' performances and their wonderful
representation of our School and Community.
In April our High School Band and our Elementary School Band
will be performing their Annual Spring Concert. A number of
selections will be performed by each group. This will be held at
the High School Gym on April 3rd beginning at 1:30pm. Admission
is free and students from all three schools will be attending as
well.

Congratulations to the 2009 Florala Marching Pride for scoring
Superior and Excellent Ratings at the “A-Town Classic” in
Andalusia on October 3rd and at The “Little Big Horn
Marching Contest” in Opp on October 17th.
Congratulations also to the Drum Line for Scoring Best in Class
at the “A-Town Classic”; and to the Majorettes for scoring Best
in Class at the “A-Town Classic and Best in Class at “The Little
Big Horn Marching Contest”. At the "Big Horn" the Majorettes had
the highest overall numeric score for the entire contest.
This past Saturday the Marching Pride participated in Troy Band
Day at Troy University. They performed along with 2,300
other Band Students and the Sound of the South Marching Band.
The students performed "Thriller" and "My Homes in Alabama"
during halftime of the Troy vs. Louisiana Monroe game.
We are so proud of our all of our
Band Members for the outstanding job they did and how well they
represent our School and Community. Congratulations to the
“Marching Pride”.
COME JOIN US AND CHEER THE WILDCATS ON TO VICTORY!
