Bradford's First Playoff
Pleasant Home wins to advance
Robert Bradford's tenure as head coach at
Pleasant Home got a little brighter after
the Eagles win to advance into the playoffs
for the first time since 2006 and Bradford's
first as a head coach.
Pleasant Home's Frank Senn averaged 12 yards
a carry rushing for 374 yards on 31 carries
and 3 touchdowns. However it was
Geneva County that started the scoring
taking a 6-0 lead on their second series.
Pleasant Home tied the game and went up 14-6
after a successful two point conversion.
The Eagles continued in the second half and
finished a 21-0 run before Geneva County
closed the gap 21-14.
As good as Senn was on offense, it was the
Eagle defense that came up with several key
stops including two stops inside the red
zone to keep Geneva County off the board.
The Eagles play Cottage Hill next week and
then advance in the first round to face 1A
power Sweet Water on November 5th.

New Coach leads near
upset of Eagles
Pleasant Home sets plans
for Playoffs
(Tuesday, October 12 - 7:00 AM)
Interim Georgiana head football
coach Michael Moore, filling in for Shawn Gregory who
was
relieved of his coaching responsibilities guided the Panthers to the
team's near win against Pleasant Home. The Eagles with stood
two fourth quarter scores and held on to a 38-36 victory and now
have their sites set on a clear playoff scenario.
Now Pleasant Home controls their
own playoff destiny and can secure a playoff birth with a win over
Geneva County in week 9. The Eagles also need to defeat JF
Shields this Friday to move to 3-3 in region play.
The Eagles would be the fourth
team from region 2 as the playoffs move to round one November 5 and
Pleasant Home would likely travel to Sweet Water to face the
Bulldogs.

Brantley remains top "Dog"
Pleasant Home fans that held any glimmer of hope that a 2001 upset defeat
over the Bulldogs would occur were extinguished after Brantley's 28-6
region win. The Eagles remain the last team to beat Brantley in
2001 - 60 region wins without a loss.
Heartbreak at Kinston
The clock shined bright with 1:56 remaining in the 4th quarter.
Pleasant Home trailing by four points, lined their defense in-front of Kinston
- who was
attempting a 4th and 1. A first down would seal the game. A
defensive stand would allow one more shot at victory....
At the beginning of the second half Pleasant Home came out fired up and
looking to negate the 16 point deficit. However, the Bulldogs took
the second half kick-off and returned for their final score of the game
and a 38-14 advantage with only 13 seconds off the clock (11:47).
Pleasant Home dramatic comeback fell just short, but could be traced to
several moments in the game. After jumping out to a quick lead,
the Eagles relaxed and Kinston took advantage of the opportunities to
build their first half lead.
A critical turning point in the game was a 93-yard touchdown by Pleasant
Home with approximately 6:30 in the game.
Frank Senn took a handoff over right tackle and busted through the
Kinston front line and then the Bulldogs secondary for an apparent
touchdown half way through the fourth. The score was called back
after a delayed personal foul penalty on an Eagle 60 yards from the
play.
Robert Bradford pleaded his case with the lead official and was also
charged a timeout for his discussion that could have been useful in the
final minute to help stop the clock. The play occurred after the
Eagles made a tremendous defensive stand and Kinston, held to a
3-an-out, had a snap fly over the punters head and
Syd Newby recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.
An emotionally charged contest that could change the course of the season
for both squads - Pleasant Home heading into a must win against Florala
and Kinston rolling into an easy win against Shields.

Tigers / Eagles ready for Friday's Jamboree
Red Level, like Pleasant Home and most small schools, succeed and
struggle based on enrollment and the athletes who play and compete. The
Tigers have experienced both highs and lows over the last six years
- highlighted by the 11-2 2004 playoff season falling in the third round to
Cottonwood (18-27) and the 2006 season with a playoff loss to Luverne
(13-26).
